Crandall ISD Health Reminder

We have seen an increase in illnesses across our schools in the past few weeks. With many families traveling and spending time together over Spring Break, we ask for your help in keeping our students and staff healthy.
Although our campuses work hard to reduce the spread of illness, parent cooperation is essential to keeping sickness to a minimum in our schools.

Please keep these important reminders in mind:
Students must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. If your child has had a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea the evening before, overnight, or the morning of school, they must remain home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
• Please remind your child to cough or sneeze into their sleeve instead of covering with their hands.
Handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent illness. Encourage your child to wash their hands after using the restroom, before eating, and anytime their hands are visibly dirty.
• If your child is diagnosed with an illness by a physician, please notify the school office or campus clinic so we can monitor illness trends.
Thank you for helping keep our Pirates healthy and ready to learn!

Bond 2022 Update: Purchase of land

Please note:
  • This land was purchased with Bond 2022 voter approved items and funds.
  • Bond money cannot be used on teacher or staff salaries.
  • CISD is a fast-growth district and will need this land for future growth.
  • At this time, this land is marked for CISD future sites, depending on what the need is.

Crandall ISD continues to responsibly invest 2022 Bond funds in projects that fulfill the commitments made to voters during the bond election.

One such investment is the Prairie Chapel Road property, which consists of approximately 133 acres located north of U.S. Highway 175, east of FM 148 North, and south of Prairie Chapel Road in the unofficial community known as Crandall Hills.

This property was purchased for future school sites as part of the district’s long-range planning for continued growth. At this time, no specific campus or facility use has been determined. Securing land in advance allows the district to plan proactively, manage future costs, and remain flexible as enrollment trends and community needs evolve.

The images below illustrate the property’s location and its proximity to existing CISD campuses and surrounding development.

Crandall ISD remains committed to transparent stewardship of bond funds and to making thoughtful, future-focused decisions that support students, staff, and the Crandall community.

Safe Storage of Firearms

Texas law requires school districts to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. The information below will help you learn about options for, as well as how to talk to your child and others about, the safe storage of firearms.

It is unlawful to store, transport, or abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm. Under Texas Penal Code 46.13, a person commits the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child if the child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm, and the person with criminal negligence:
  • Failed to secure the firearm; or
  • Left the firearm in a place to which the person knew or should have known the child would gain access
  • The penalty for allowing a child access to a firearm can range from a Class C misdemeanor (punishable by a $500 fine) to a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by a $4000 fine, a year in jail, or a combination of the two).
  • Texas exempts the purchase of firearm safety equipment from Texas Sales and Use Tax.

Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere. You can learn more and find additional resources from the Texas Department of Public Safety at https://safegunstoragetexas.com
Infographic detailing various safe gun storage devices including cable locks, trigger locks, biometric locks, gun cases, strong boxes, gun cabinets, and gun safes/vaults.

Crandall ISD is more than a school district — it is a community of people who care deeply about our students and one another. We come from different backgrounds, families, and experiences, but we share ONE purpose: helping kids succeed.

Every day, across every campus, our teachers, staff, parents, and community partners pour their hearts into supporting our students. When we lift each other up, we become stronger together. When we unite around our children, we build something powerful.

We are One Community.
One Purpose.
One Pirate Nation.
And our students are counting on ALL of us.
