Create a Meal

Crandall Independent School  District participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. The following graphic shows what is considered a complete breakfast and lunch.

A student must select a minimum of three of the four required food components, including a fruit or vegetable for a complete breakfast. 


How to Create a Breakfast: 

  • Eat a minimum of 2 food groups and a maximum of 4
  • Start with a fruit, juice or both
  • Add an entree (grain and/or protein) and a serving of milk

A student must select a minimum of three of the five required food components, including a fruit or vegetable for a complete lunch. A student may select up to five required food components. See graphic below for more information.

How to Create a Lunch: 

  • Eat a minimum of 3 food groups and a maximum of 5
  • Start with a Fruit or Vegetable (or both)
  • Add Whole Grain, Lean Protein and a serving of Milk
