At Crandall ISD, we are committed to providing a high-quality education for all students. Our Special Education and Related Services are designed to support students with disabilities by offering personalized instruction and accommodations that allow them to fully participate in the general education curriculum and school community.

Special education services are specially designed instructional supports tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. These services aim to help students:

  • Make meaningful progress in the general curriculum

  • Participate in extracurricular and nonacademic activities

  • Be educated alongside their non-disabled peers whenever possible

  • Develop academic, social, emotional, and functional skills for lifelong success

All services are provided at no cost to parents or guardians and are guided by federal (IDEA) and state education laws.

Students may qualify for special education when they have a disability that affects their educational performance and requires specially designed instruction. Once eligibility is determined through a formal evaluation, an Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee—which includes the student’s parents or guardians—works collaboratively to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to the student’s strengths, needs, and goals.

Instructional support and services may include:

  • In-class support

  • Resource or pull-out instruction

  • Self-contained classrooms

  • Related services such as speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or counseling

  • Assistive technology and accessibility tools

  • Transition planning for life beyond high school

Services are delivered in a variety of instructional settings, depending on what is most appropriate for the student’s success. Crandall ISD values inclusion and works diligently to ensure that students with disabilities are active and supported participants in the academic and social life of our schools.
