Our Process

Timeline & Next Steps

The planning process began in January 2025 with community forums, research teams, and action plan development. Annual updates will be shared, and progress reviewed to ensure full implementation within 3–5 years. Action Plans will transition into operational systems as they are completed.

Strategic Plan Framework

Our strategic plan includes 11 Action Plans across 7 Strategic Objectives, developed with input from community forums, student panels, educators, and industry partners. These will be implemented over the next 3–5 years.

District Improvement Plan & Council

District Improvement Plan & Council

Under provisions of the Texas education code, every school district is required to develop a district plan to improve student performance. Crandall ISD utilizes a collaborative planning process including community and staff input to develop the district’s education plan. District and campus plans are developed annually to be mutually supportive of the state goals and objectives under Education Code, Chapter 4.

In Crandall ISD, the planning team is known as the District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) and the plan, aligned with the district’s five-year Strategic Plan, is known as the District Improvement Plan (DIP). The Board of Trustees for the district oversees the meeting procedures of the District-level planning and decision-making committee and annually approves their plan recommendations.

Campus Improvement Plan & Council

Site-Based Decision Making

Site-based decision making implementation has been mandated for all Texas school districts since 1992. The basic premise of site-based decision making is that the most effective decisions are made by those who will actually implement the decisions. The belief is that people involved at the campus level have a greater opportunity to identify problems, develop problem resolution and change strategy than people located off-campus. Site-based decision making concepts also recognize that people at the campus level are more likely to internalize change and to support its implementation if they are involved in the decision making than if they are not. The objective of site-based decision making is to improve student performance and to enhance accountability. (Click here.
 
In Crandall ISD, each campus forms a Campus Site-Based Committee that sets the campus's educational objectives, consistent with the District Improvement Plan and Strategic Plan. This Campus Improvement Plan is a one year plan that notes how resources and time will be allocated in the school year to meet the determined objectives. The Campus Improvement Committee consists of representation from the community, parents and staff.


 

Improvement Plans

The purpose of the district and campus improvement plans is to guide district and campus staff in the improvement of student performance for all student groups in order to attain state standards in respect to the achievement indicators.

Crandall ISD reviews and revises improvement plans on an annual basis. The revisions are made by the staff at each campus and the central administrative staff of the district. Site based committee members are involved in the development and revision of the plans. The plans are presented to the Board of Trustees for approval.
