October 1, 2021
Good afternoon, Pirates.
The first day of October brought something special with it this year—a nice, long weekend for our students and staff. And while I want both groups to enjoy this time away from school, I do have one request related to CISD for everyone reading—keep the responses coming to our Long-Range Facilities Planning survey sent in my message two weeks ago.
We received more than 500 responses in 48 hours. More than 100 people volunteered to serve on our upcoming Facility Planning Committee. This is outstanding engagement and I am beyond thankful for the feedback—but we want to hear from even more of you.
Demographers project upward of 10,000 new homes being constructed in CISD over the next 5 years. Our district will grow to include even more of the surrounding area. We want to ensure the voices of all Pirate families are heard while we embrace and guide this growth. This brief 14-question survey remains open and your voice is needed to help us provide the best learning environments possible for our students.
And please, sign up to be part of the Facilities Planning Committee while taking the survey. Each of the committee meetings will take place in the CISD Administration Building and begin with a light dinner from 6-6:30 p.m. Presentations will follow until 8 p.m. Dates are:
· Monday, Oct. 18
· Tuesday, Nov. 2
· Thursday, Nov. 18
· Monday, Dec. 6
We will be in touch next week with those who have registered.
October also brings with it the opportunity to celebrate the leaders of our eight campuses with National Principals Month. CISD is fortunate to have kid-first principals who give so much time supporting their students and staff. We will begin celebrating them next Tuesday as our staff returns and will reach out to you throughout the month for some interactive appreciation.
This is an exciting time full of promise and progression, Pirates. And the best way to grow is together. Be safe and enjoy your time away from school. Students, we will see you Wednesday.
