November 12

Good evening, Pirates.

Freedom is a lot of things. It is having the ability to choose your own way. It is having the right to voice your concerns and ideas. It is freedom of speech and freedom of expression. But there is one thing freedom is not—freedom is not free.

This week in Crandall ISD we celebrated the freedoms afforded to all of us by our service men and women on Veterans Day. Last week we honored veterans during our halftime show. There are around 19 million U.S. veterans, many living right here in Crandall ISD. Some teach our Pirates every day. How fortunate are we to live and work in a place where we all experience the freedoms earned and protected by people who put their country before themselves? I’ll tell you—we are beyond fortunate. And on behalf of our students, employees and school board, thank you to all of our veterans.

I also want to wish our Pirate football team good luck tonight as they travel north to Lucas where they will take on the Lovejoy Leopards at 7 p.m. in our first-ever 5A playoff game. Lovejoy is a tough draw with a 9-1 record and No. 9 ranking in the state, but the Pirate offense can score points with the best. Best wishes to Coach Hardin, our players and our coaches.

Enjoy your weekend and the weather that is finally feeling a bit more like Autumn.

Pirates forever,

Dr. Wendy Eldredge
Superintendent, Crandall ISD
