August 27 - Superintendent Letter

August 27, 2021

Good afternoon, Pirates.

As the second week of school ends, we are set to celebrate with something near and dear to us all—Friday Night Lights with the sounds of our band, cheerleaders, drill team and Crandall Pirate Football. Our Pirates host Jacksonville this evening in a 7:30 kickoff. Tickets are still available to come take in the sights and sounds of one of this town’s great passions. Our students, coaches and sponsors love your support and excitement, so we invite you to join us.

Growth has been the theme of our year thus far. We have now surpassed 5,300 students—that is 500 more students enrolled than this time last year. Today’s topping-out ceremony at our middle school construction site is symbolic of that growth. The final beam of roof iron was signed, hoisted and secured to mark the next phase of construction. Special thanks to our partners at Gallagher Construction and WRA Architects for their project guidance to this point. Lots of Pirates will benefit when this beautiful facility opens in August 2022. Look back at the event on CISD’s Flickr account.

Covid advisement from the Texas Education Agency continues adjusting and we continue working within those shifts. To help streamline parent information, the district is creating a Covid-19 dashboard that will be shared with families and staff. It will update case counts throughout the district and by campus. We plan to share the link next week.

It has been a fast-moving two weeks and your support is always appreciated. We have all been hard at work for our kids, especially our teachers and nurses. So, if you see one, an extra thanks would be great to send their way.

Enjoy your weekends and cheer hard tonight for the Pirates.

Pirates forever,

Dr. Wendy Eldredge, Superintendent
Crandall ISD
