Hello, Pirates.
Rick Harrell, Dr. Sharon Long, Jennifer Hiser, Stacie Warren, Ryan Eskridge and Amy Barber. These are the names of our school board members here in Crandall ISD and this month, we are celebrating them with School Board Appreciation Month.
These six board members play an important role in our district regarding policy, support, finances and oversight. Over the past year, our Trustees have helped pass a record-breaking $365-million bond that will impact several areas, including two new elementary schools, high school additions—which incorporate a Career-Technical Education center—security, technology, and an expanded transportation system. A Performing Arts Center was also part of the bond.
Board members have also helped shepherd an unprecedented student enrollment surge into the district, which has grown more than 35 percent in two years. They also adopted a $73,194,000 budget and lowered the district’s tax rate for the fourth-consecutive time. Their continued commitment to safety and teachers also rang true as CISD’s Police Department now stands at 10 officers, which ranks at the top of Kaufman County school districts operating their own police force.
So, as we celebrate School Board Appreciation Month with more than 1,100 school districts in Texas, I say thank you to our six leaders. Our district and community appreciate all that you do.
