Holiday greetings, everyone.
Can you believe we are beginning our Winter Break? The Fall semester has come and gone, and Pirate Pride radiated from so many areas throughout the past four months.
- We enrolled our 6,000th student in September, an eighth grader at Crandall Middle School. Our 1,200 newest students have come to us from seven countries, 23 states and 97 Texas school districts. Pirate Pride truly is spanning the globe.
- Our Crandall High School eSports team was tops in the state, ranked No. 1 in the Texas eSports League category of Fortnite. This ranking goes far beyond just playing a game—it means our kids are the best at analyzing data, studying statistics, reviewing strategies and building proficiency in computer hardware and software.
- All four of our Fall sports—cross country, football, tennis and volleyball—advanced to the playoffs for the first time since joining 5A. And the Dallas Morning News named our Pirate footballers as a wildcard in its article “Who will be the biggest and best North Texas football team in 10 years?” Joining Crandall on that list was DeSoto, Lancaster and Highland Park—pretty good company.
These three morsels are just a small part of the recipe that makes up Pirate Pride. Take a look at the video below to see even more. What a blessing it is for all of us—staff and community members alike—to revel in the joy and successes of kids. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. May joy, good health and success line all our paths as we conclude one year and begin another.
Have a wonderful, and safe, holiday break.
Pirates forever,
Dr. Wendy Eldredge
