Walker Elementary Hosts Inspiring Black History Month Celebration
Walker Elementary recently hosted a powerful Black History Month celebration, showcasing student talent and highlighting significant moments in African American history.
The evening began with performances by the school’s two Pirate cheer squads, who danced to music from African American artists in recognition of their cultural impact. Students from fourth through sixth grade took the stage with dramatic skits depicting key historical events that shaped the nation’s path toward equality.
The celebration also featured an inspiring vocal performance of Stand Up and a dynamic dance routine by two fifth-grade students. The Lady Pirate Step Team closed the night with a step routine honoring the legacy of African American sororities.
The event brought the school community together to reflect on history, celebrate culture, and recognize the contributions of African Americans. Crandall ISD and its schools will continue to celebrate Black History Month throughout February.
Thank you to Walker Elementary Principal Lara Reed, along with Aimee McCullar, Tatum Johns, Melanie Morales, and Kimberly Taiwo, for their dedication and effort in making this event a success.
