National Recognition for Crandall ISD Mental Health Leader Shenise Tett

Crandall ISD is proud to celebrate Shenise Tett, Coordinator of School Counseling Services, as a recipient of the Mental Health Leadership Fall 2025 Award—a national recognition honoring individuals who advance youth mental health through innovative, collaborative, and student-centered leadership.
The Mental Health Leadership Award celebrates professionals across the country who are building systems where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. As a 2025 awardee, Shenise represents the very heart of this work through her unwavering commitment to students, families, and staff across Crandall ISD.
In her role, Shenise leads the district’s K–12 counseling team and has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive, districtwide social-emotional learning (SEL) system rooted in both empathy and data. She designed a shared SEL scope and sequence aligned to state standards and CASEL frameworks, embedding meaningful pre- and post-assessments and teacher feedback loops to ensure continuous growth and impact. This approach has strengthened consistency, equity, and sustainability across counseling and SEL services districtwide.
Beyond systems and strategy, Shenise’s leadership is grounded in care. She reimagined Crandall ISD’s clothing closet to prioritize dignity and accessibility, resulting in increased family engagement and support. Her work reflects a deep understanding that mental health leadership is about meeting students where they are and removing barriers so they can thrive.
Reflecting on the honor, Shenise shared,
“Being recognized for this work is both humbling and affirming, as it highlights the privilege I have in serving and supporting students, staff, and families each day. At Crandall ISD, we believe every child deserves to be inspired, encouraged, loved, believed in, and taught more than they were the day before.”
