Happy Easter, Pirates.

Thank you for letting us interrupt your Sunday afternoon. Hopefully you're getting to spend some time with family and friends celebrating the holiday. We want to update you about four really quick things and then we'll let you get back to enjoying your family weekend.

First of all, this coming Tuesday and Thursday, we have what we're calling the State of the District. It's an opportunity for us to share kind of where we are in terms of growth and bond funds, future development of our district. We're going to offer two nights. We hope that you'll make the effort to be at one of those.

Tuesday night, April 22, we'll be at Opal Smith Elementary. We'll have an interpreter there if that's something that you might find beneficial. Thursday night we'll be at the Rains Central office. They both start at 6:00 in the evening. We'd love to see you there and get to visit and share some of the great things happening in our district.

Secondly, we are already hot and heavily preparing for the next school year. We start in January, making plans for what next school year looks like. Now we're needing your help. We're doing an Intent to Return right now of all of our students. Pre-K through 7th grade students received a paper form of the Intent to Return. Students in 8th grade through 11th grade received an electronic version on Skyward of Intent to Return.

We ask that you help us complete those forms. It helps us with planning how many staff members we have, what classrooms we have available. It's just hugely important to our process. If you could get those Intent to Return forms filled out and back to us by May 5, we would greatly appreciate it.

We have two really exciting things happening this upcoming week in terms of celebrating our staff. The first one is Bus Driver Appreciation. This group of people have just a really challenging job. They start super early in the morning. By 5:30 or 6:00 we have buses out on the road and they don't finish until 5pm or 6pm getting students home. They do a great job to keep our students safe. They fight the traffic every day that many of us complain about, but they are in the midst of it every day.

To those 37 bus drivers, I want to say thank you. We have a total of 54 staff members down in the Transportation Department that really just help that run. This week, please make sure you thank your bus drivers. We are very, very thankful for them.

Lastly, it is Administrative Assistant Day this week coming up on Thursday, and we have some amazing administrative assistants. I won't spend all of my time bragging about mine, but I know that if everyone depends on theirs the way I depend on mine, they are gold and they are truly what keeps our district running.

Thank you to our administrative assistants for the tireless work, keeping the rest of us on track, all the things that you do to keep Crandall ISD moving in the right direction.

Look forward to seeing you all back tomorrow. Have a great rest of your Sunday.
