In a special called school board meeting Thursday, May 18, 2023, the CISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Dr. Anjanette Murry as the Crandall ISD superintendent.
Dr. Murry most recently served as the assistant superintendent of Crandall ISD and has more than 25 years of experience in education. She previously worked as a teacher and campus administrator in the Mesquite school district prior to her 12 years in Crandall.
“We valued community and staff input while throwing a wide net to attract applicants from all over Texas,” stated CISD Board of Trustees President Rick Harrell. “We then applied a rigorous interview process wanting to know we would find the best candidate for our district.”
The CISD Board of Trustees began the search for a new superintendent in February 2023. The district received applications from across the country and selected Dr. Murry after interviewing multiple qualified candidates.
Dr. Murry first joined the district in 2010 as the middle school principal. She is completing her 28th year in public education and over the years, served in the role of substitute teacher, teacher’s aide, classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent serving the district in many areas, including Curriculum and Instruction.
"Being selected as superintendent has been a career-long goal. It is the greatest honor of my career to serve Crandall ISD Students, Staff, and Community,” said Dr. Murry. “CISD has been my home for the last twelve years, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve our pirates and continue moving us in a positive direction. "
Dr. Murry and her husband are deeply involved in the community. With an unwavering dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, they have actively participated in various community events, supporting local businesses and engaging with residents.
On a personal level, her family shares a special connection with the district, as their own children are part of the student body. Their oldest child recently graduated in 2022, and her youngest daughter is currently a junior at Crandall High School, which further deepens their understanding and investment in the educational journey of the Crandall Pirates. This firsthand experience as parents have given them valuable insights into the unique needs and aspirations of the students, motivating them to continuously strive for excellence and create a nurturing environment for all.
