A much-deserved teacher spotlight is on a new teacher, yet a long-term Pirate, Amber Ragsdale.

Mrs. Ragsdale has been with Crandall for 10 years and has conquered many different positions. She is a leader within CISD and has impacted many people around her. I was lucky enough to be able to ask her a few questions and her answers were top-tier.

Q: What made you want to join the Teacher Apprentice Program?

Mrs. Ragsdale: I was actually already finishing school to be a teacher. I was almost finished anyway when this became an opportunity, so I jumped on it.

Q: Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

Mrs. Ragsdale: When I was younger I wanted to be a nurse, but I quickly changed my mind when I became involved in education. I have been working for CISD for 10 years and have loved every minute of it.

Q: What is your dream subject or grade to teach?

Mrs. Ragsdale: My dream subject is English and that’s what I teach. I am in English 3 with mostly Juniors and love it.

Q: Do you anticipate continuing in the teaching field or using this as a first step to bigger things?

Mrs. Ragsdale: I do plan on teaching for a while but I want to pursue my Masters degree and become a school counselor.

CISD is so thankful for Mrs. Ragsdale and all she has done for the high school campus operations, students and staff. Her heart to help students achieve will serve her well in the classroom as she begins her teaching career in the high school English department teaching English III students this 2022-23 school year.
