Crandall High School to Assess and Enhance Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Efforts in Partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED)
Crandall, TX, December 10, 2024 — Crandall High School announced that it has joined the JED High School program to enhance student well-being and mental health. The JED High School program is a nationwide initiative by The Jed Foundation (JED) that helps schools evaluate and strengthen their mental health and suicide prevention programs, ensuring that students have the strongest possible safety nets in place.
The Jed Foundation (JED) is a leading nonprofit dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide among our nation's teens and young adults. JED’s signature programs, including JED High School, JED Campus, and JED District, have helped over 500 schools, colleges, and universities across the country create safety nets for students by improving mental health and reducing suicide risk.
By joining the JED High School program, Crandall High School reaffirms its commitment to the emotional well-being of its students. JED High Schools engage in a collaborative strategic planning process that assesses and enhances existing efforts while fostering lasting, positive change in the school community. The program provides a framework for supporting student mental health, along with assessment tools, feedback reports, a strategic plan, and support from the JED High School team.
Crandall High School’s participation in JED High School begins with the creation of an interdisciplinary, campus-wide team tasked with assessing, supporting, and implementing program, policy, and system improvements. This process starts with a confidential, self-assessment survey evaluating the school's mental health promotion and suicide prevention efforts. Once the assessment is complete, JED experts will provide a comprehensive feedback report highlighting successes and opportunities for improvement. Over the next 36 months, Crandall High School will collaborate with JED to implement these enhancements, with all responses and feedback remaining confidential.
