Crandall ISD to Present Teacher Certification Compliance Plan at January 12 Board Meeting

Crandall, Texas — January 12 — Crandall Independent School District will have in the Consent Agenda tonight a Delay of Teacher Certification Compliance Plan during tonight’s regularly scheduled meeting of the Crandall ISD Board of Trustees.
The plan outlines a multi-year strategy that allows the district to request a delay in meeting Texas Education Agency (TEA) teacher certification requirements for foundation curriculum courses, with the goal of achieving full certification compliance by the 2029-2030 school year. This request is permitted under Texas Education Code 21.0032 and requires approval from both the Board of Trustees and the TEA.
The application responds to ongoing statewide and regional teacher shortages, challenges recruiting certified teachers in hard-to-fill areas, and local financial constraints that impact competitiveness. Under the plan, Crandall ISD would implement a structured, year-by-year reduction in the number of uncertified teachers while strengthening certification pathways, educator preparation partnerships, and long-term teacher pipeline initiatives.
Key components of the plan include targeted annual reduction benchmarks, required enrollment in approved educator preparation programs, individualized certification completion plans, expanded mentoring and test-preparation supports, and partnerships with educator preparation providers to support teacher certification progress.
Crandall ISD emphasizes that this plan is designed to balance instructional continuity for students with a clear, accountable pathway toward full compliance. The district remains committed to maintaining high instructional standards and supporting educators in achieving certification.
Community members are encouraged to review the full Delay of Teacher Certification Compliance Plan.
