Happy Sunday, Pirates. I hope you had a great long weekend. Our kids had a couple of extra days off. Teachers spent some time learning and growing, and we had great fall weather. So hope you were able to enjoy and find some rest this weekend. I have lots of things to tell you. So we're just gonna jump right in.

  • Behind me, you see some student work that is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month that starts on September 15 all the way through October 15. It's just a great opportunity for our students and for our families to get to come together and celebrate the hispanic heritage. In Crandall ISD, about 43% of our families identify with the Hispanic or Latino heritage. And so this is an opportunity for our students to get to share those experiences and share their culture with others around us. Also wanted to tell you about twelve bilingual classrooms in our district. That's a really special program. We've got teachers who teach English half the time and Spanish half the time. So our kids are becoming biliterate, and we are just really proud of those kids. All of our campuses are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in some way, if they haven't already. We hope you'll take the opportunity to be involved in that.

  • Next, I want to tell you a little bit about the Prop A Meetings that are coming. You've probably seen some social media presence around those. You've probably seen some of the signs now happening around town. We're going to host a few meetings this week to provide factual information and just answer any questions that you may have. The first one is tomorrow, September 30 at 6:00pm in the Crandall boardroom. And then Tuesday we'll be out at Noble-Reed Elementary for the Wildcat families. And on Thursday we'll be over at Opal Smith to visit with the heartland families. So those start at 6:00pm each night. We hope you'll take the chance to come and see us learn a little bit about what's happening and what we're asking for.

  • Lastly, this week is one of the most exciting things that happens in the fall. We get to have our Community Event. We used to hold this kind of as a tailgate, but then half of our people had to leave to go to a football game. And so now on our bye week, we don't have a football game this coming Friday, and so we're going to hold a community event. It will be over at the pit in the parking lot of the, in the back of the high school. Starts at 05:00pm. Booths from all over the community. Every school will be represented. And so we hope that you will come and see us. It will be a great time to just get together and celebrate that.

We are pirates. I've learned how to say that in Spanish. Somos piratas. We are pirates. Hope to see you there. Have a great week at school.
