January 20
January 20, 2023
Good evening, Pirates.
The first month of every new year typically brings with it lots and lots of resolutions. For those of you who have stuck with your goals to date, congratulations—more than two-thirds of people abandon their ambition before January’s end. Just 11 more days until February!
For me, resolutions tend to present the question, “Why do we need a one-time annual event to refocus our priorities?” In CISD, we are taking the month of January to refresh, rather than refocus. And one of our refreshers is school safety.
We have made January our “Safety Drill Refresher Month.” If you need confirmation, just ask your kids. They are being run through a second round of campus safety drills—the first took place when school began in August—to remind them how to respond in the event of an emergency.
CISD uses the Standard Response Protocol through the “I Love U Guys” Foundation for its emergency response. We train our staff in these critical response methods, so they know exactly how to respond to a variety of emergencies. We also train our students by completing drills in each of these protocols, so they know what to expect during an emergency. This August/January approach allows us to reach our Pirates twice a year en masse, along with additional monthly drills.
For more information on how we keep our students, staff and visitors safe each day, visit our Emergency Operations page. And as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via Let’s Connect.
Pirates forever,
Dr. Wendy Eldredge
