Opioid & Fentanyl Awareness Resources

Crandall ISD has incorporated the safe and effective management of opioid-related overdoses into our emergency preparedness and response plan.

House Bill (HB) 3144 (88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2023) establishes the month of October as Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month to increase awareness of the dangers of fentanyl and potential overdoses. Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month may be regularly observed through appropriate community activities (Texas Government Code, §662.116).

All Health Services team members and School-Based Law Enforcement Officers in our district have the knowledge and skills to identify, manage, assess, and treat a person who is down related to an opioid exposure or overdose.

As a precautionary measure, Naloxone (or Narcan) is available at every CISD campus, and our nursing staff and district officers have been trained on how to properly administer it in case of an emergency.
