Happy Sunday, Pirates!
I’m excited to be back with you and to introduce one of our amazing students—Dephany! If you notice, I’ve got a new hairstyle today, and that’s thanks to the talented students in our Cosmetology Program. This month, we’re celebrating CTE Month (Career and Technology Education), and these students are on their way to earning their certifications and becoming licensed cosmetologists. They do incredible work, and I’m so grateful to be part of their journey!
This week, we also celebrate National School Counseling Week. We have dedicated counselors in our district who make a tremendous impact on our students and families. If you see one of them, take a moment to say thank you and let them know how much they’re appreciated.
A quick reminder—this Friday is a student holiday! While students enjoy the day off, our teachers will be participating in staff development to continue growing and improving their practices.
Lastly, I want to address an incident that occurred in our district this past week. A false 911 call was made, leading to a police response and two campuses being placed on hold. Thankfully, it was determined to be a prank, but these situations are taken very seriously. I ask for your help in talking with students about the real consequences of these actions. False reports create unnecessary fear and divert valuable resources.
I also want to thank you for your patience and trust during these situations. Our top priority is always the safety of our students and staff. While communication may sometimes be delayed, please know that our first responsibility is ensuring everyone is safe before we share updates. We continually work to improve our response processes, and we appreciate your understanding.
While it was a heavy way to end the week, we’re looking forward to another great one ahead. Enjoy the short week, and we’ll see our staff on Friday for professional development!
Special thanks to Dephany and our Cosmetology students for today’s fantastic hair! Have a wonderful week, Pirates!
