Happy Sunday, Pirates. It's great to be with you. I hope you're enjoying your long weekend. I look forward to being off tomorrow, as all of our staff and students are off for President's Day.

If you're looking for something fun to do tomorrow night, our boys' basketball team plays in their first-round playoffs, which will be held in Corsicana against Waco University. We hope to see you there! Congratulations to our staff and students who have worked so hard to earn that playoff berth.

We're here today at Opal Smith, and you can see behind me the backdrop of our Black History celebration. Please be sure to check your campus website. Most of our campuses have or will be holding their Black History celebrations, and we invite you to be a part of those.

Last Monday, we had a very busy board meeting with many exciting updates for Crandall ISD. For the 2025-2026 school year, we approved rezoning. New boundaries will take effect next school year for our elementary schools. We also approved a grade span restructure, meaning our elementary schools will now be Pre-K through 5th grade, and our middle schools will be 6th through 8th grade.

Yes, you heard that correctly—middle schools! We're opening a second middle school next year, and we are very excited about that. We've created a webpage for board meeting updates so you can easily stay informed about what's happening.

You may also see on the webpage some photos of four very important Pirates. The board decided last week to separate the positions of athletic director and head football coach, as well as fine arts director and head band director. Congratulations to those four gentlemen on their new roles. They are familiar faces who have been with us for a long time, and we are excited for this leadership transition.

Congratulations once again to those four men. We hope you have a great week and look forward to seeing all of our staff and students back on Tuesday. Have a good one!
