Happy Sunday, Pirates. Happy holidays to you. You can see we have a great backdrop for celebrating the holidays here in Crandall. Let’s finish strong. We’ve got one week left of school. Students are with us Monday through Thursday with an early release day on Thursday.
I encourage students at the secondary level to give your best on semester exams. To our elementary students and families, please be in attendance every day through the end of the week. Then, we’ll have two great weeks off. Happy holidays. Hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and family.
This is the time of year when we like to look back and celebrate the semester. We have several great pictures and memories from this first semester. Crandall ISD has experienced a great amount of success, so let’s take a few minutes to celebrate being a Pirate family together.
In August, we had our first back-to-school bash with free school supplies, serving over 900 students. Convocation is one of my favorite times of the year when all of our staff come together for the beginning-of-year kickoff. This year our theme is “Believe in the Climb.” We had a great first day of school with lots of fun pictures and meaningful experiences for kids.
September was filled with student activities, including Career and College Day at Crandall High School. We celebrated Homecoming and won the game—congratulations to our students and our King and Queen! We also experienced Hispanic Heritage Night at Noble Reed.
In October, we hosted Community Night at The Pit with a community tailgate. It was a great time for our students, families, and community representatives. Our football team finished the season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the second round of playoffs. One of the best experiences was our first home football game. Dietz Elementary hosted a breakfast for veterans, and CHS Theatre presented a fantastic production of "Charlotte’s Web." We celebrated our substitutes with a nacho bar and prize giveaways, showing appreciation for their essential role in our district’s success.
In December, we celebrated our Winter Arts Festival. This special event featured performances from art classes, dance, theater, and band programs, with two nights showcasing middle and high school students.
Crandall ISD is fortunate to have two supportive organizations that enhance our district’s experiences. The Crandall ISD Education Foundation held a golf tournament in October, raising over $88,575 for student scholarships and classroom grants. They also sponsor “Tacos with the Team,” where our administrative staff visits campuses, cooks lunch, and connects with staff.
The Heartland Education Foundation has also been incredibly supportive. They sponsor Junior Achievement and the AIR Reading Program for elementary students. In November, they took some of our fifth graders to the Perot Museum, with more visits coming. They also sponsored BMX shows at each elementary campus, continuously finding ways to give back.
As you can see, Crandall ISD has had a great first semester, and we look forward to an even better second semester. It is the privilege of my life to serve and lead in this district. Thank you for the opportunity.
We hope you have a great holiday season with your family and look forward to seeing everyone back on January 8th. Merry Christmas!
