Application to the Strategic Planning Committee: www.crandall-isd.net/plan
Happy Sunday families. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It's great to be back with you. We're in our final push towards the end of the semester, and there are lots of activities that are coming your way. I'm just going to start by mentioning a couple.
Tomorrow is the 49th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA. We celebrate tomorrow as Special Education Day. I want to say thank you to the 179 staff members that we have and our special education department. They serve well over 1,260 students in Crandall ISD. They make up a really special and unique population of our district and a group of students that we are just really proud of.
How blessed we are that we now live in a place, thanks to the IDEA Act, a place where we have equal education for all of our students. Thank you to that staff who makes that happen every single day. We are blessed by you, and we appreciate you.
The next activity that we have that's coming up very quickly this week is our Winter Arts Festivals. One of the great things about being a growing district is that we have so many new students and so many students who are participating in each of our programs. Winter Arts Festival used to be an opportunity for our entire district to gather together and do one night of celebrating our fine arts.
But we've just grown too big. And so now we are separating our Winter Arts Festival into two different nights. The first night is December 3rd, and that's for all of our middle school students. So beginner bands, intermediate dance choir, all of those students, even our art students with some work on display, will be happening at the middle school on December 3rd, starting at 6:00 there at the middle school.
Then we'll have another night December 5th. So on Thursday night we'll have another night for our high school performances. All of our high school fine arts will be on display as well as high school performances by our band, choir, drill, all of our dance classes. So we hope that you'll take advantage and uh, be there to support our students and all of their hard work this semester in our fine arts.
And lastly, I know I mentioned it the last time that we were together back before Thanksgiving, but we have this opportunity for a Strategic Planning Process that's coming to Crandall. It's super important to me that we have voices that represent all of our students, our kids that are graduating in the next five years, the next 10 years.
We need to prepare a future for them. We need to prepare them to be able to go out and embark on any journey that they wish to do and have them be well prepared. I want that input and how we get there and what that looks like to be of.
That's a collective of our entire organization and not just the superintendent trying to decide what she thinks is best for our students. We have an application process. We have a website that's dedicated to the Strategic Planning Process. And so if you would be interested or you have a passion for helping us set goals and set a future vision for our district. We hope that you'll apply.
We hope you have a great week. We're on the downhill side to the end of the semester. So students work on your grades, make sure that you're caught up on everything. And we look forward to seeing you at least one more time before Christmas.
We hope you have a great holiday.
