CISD adopts budget, lowers tax rate for fifth-consecutive year

At Monday, August 28, school board meeting, Crandall ISD Trustees adopted a $64,363,304 general operating budget for the 2023-24 school year and lowered the district's tax rate for the fifth consecutive time.

The new $1.1692 tax rate has dropped 38 cents in the past five years after standing at $1.54 in 2018-19.

In response to the needs and aspirations of the community, the Crandall Independent School District has taken a proactive step to alleviate the financial burden on residents. The school district has effectively lowered the tax rate following careful financial planning and prudent management. This reduction reflects the district's dedication to responsible fiscal management and ensures that families can better allocate their hard-earned resources towards their personal goals and investments.

The new budget reflects a 12-percent increase from last year's $57,315,256. Projected student growth continues driving the increased state funds. CISD's enrollment has continued and surges closer to 6,500 students.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of its educators, administrators, and support staff, Crandall ISD Board of Trustees was pleased to announce a 3% salary increase across the board in June for the 2023-24 school year. This raise demonstrates the district's appreciation for its staff members' dedication and hard work. It acknowledges the tireless efforts of these individuals who work to provide quality education and a nurturing environment for students.
