Teacher Highlight: Coach Rodney Washington

Crandall has a powerhouse boys’ basketball team and much of that can be attributed to the leadership of Coach Washington. He is respected by the staff and students of CHS. Coach Washing is not only a coach but a role model among many of the team members. I was fortunate enough to ask Coach Washington a few questions. 

Q: What led you to coach? 

Coach Washington: My father was a coach and I always admired his work. It was also a way for me to work with kids while teaching my passion for the game.

Q: What are your expectations for the season? 

Coach Washington: I want to be one of the top teams in the district and state and to make a run in the playoffs.

Q: What are you most excited for this season? 

Coach Washington: I cannot wait to see how good this team can be. 

Q: Do you have any specific plans for the basketball program and its future? 

Coach Washington: My goal is to build a basketball powerhouse and win multiple state championships.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring basketball players? 

Coach Washington: Stay hungry, seek out advice from veteran coaches, treat your players with respect and always stay committed to getting better.

Crandall is so thankful for all the work Coach Washington has put into the program and how he continues to push our pirates every day. We cannot wait to watch the Pirate basketball team dominate this coming season.
