February 1, 2022
Good evening, everyone.
As you have probably seen, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for our area, from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday. This is the first predicted winter storm in Texas since last year’s massive freeze that consumed the state’s power grid. Local media attention has already intensified and will likely become more sensational during the next few days.
Meteorologists from the National Weather Service do not anticipate a repeat of last year’s storm. Temperatures are not forecast to be as cold, neither are they predicted to stay cold as long. However, travel could be impacted due to freezing temperatures. While some Dallas-area districts are already announcing closures later this week, we will continue working with the National Weather Service, Texas Dept. of Transportation and other entities to make the safest decision for Crandall ISD.
Should weather force a cancellation, that information will be shared as quickly as possible. Please review the district’s severe weather procedures for more information.
Have a good evening,
CISD Communications
