January 28

January 28, 2022

What would you call a job with no salary and long hours with most of the work taking place on nights and weekends? In Crandall ISD we call that role a “work of heart,” and it describes the district’s Board of Trustees.

Every January, CISD—along with school districts throughout the state—recognizes the dedication of board members. The new year presents a perfect opportunity to remind everyone about the important role school boards have in the governance and oversight of public education. CISD Trustees serve as advisors, decision makers, problem solvers and supporters of the district. Just this year, they have opened their doors to the community even more with the district’s “Lets Connect” online feedback forum. Our board remains approachable and engaged—all while helping manage a student growth rate among the fastest in Texas, yielding 600 new students since school began last August.

So, as School Board Appreciation Month concludes, I say thank you to our six leaders—President Rick Harrell, Vice President Mike Wood, Secretary Jennifer Hiser, and Trustees Stacie Warren, Amy Barber and Dr. Sharon Long. Thank you for attending events, supporting our students and helping guide our district. On behalf of our students, staff and community, we appreciate all that you do.

If you see them out and about, let them know we appreciate their dedication.

Pirates forever,

Dr. Wendy Eldredge
Superintendent, Crandall ISD
