February 18

Hello, Pirates.

It has been a busy week in Crandall ISD and a lot has to do with looking forward to our future—both long-term and short-term.

For the long-term future, our school board voted on Monday night to move forward with the community’s recommendation and call a $400-million school bond election in May. The vote by Trustees followed the recommendation of CISD’s Long-Range Planning Committee—a group of almost 50 community members that met five times over the course of three months to discuss district growth, enrollment, demographics, facilities and educational spaces.

The school district tax rate will not increase to finance this bond according to CISD financial advisors. Please become educated on the bond and register to vote—visit for more information. We will share much more with you over the next few months.

Regarding our short-term future, I know we all enjoyed our time playing in the snow Feb. 3-4. We do have to make up one of those two days and will do so on March 7, as printed on the district calendar. Be sure to plan accordingly.

Another note regarding calendars, there are now four calendar options for you to choose from for the 2022-23 school year. The survey is open through next Friday, Feb. 25.

What better way to close out this week’s message than by celebrating a long-term success in our district—the Crandall High School cheer team. This group of young ladies claimed its third-consecutive state championship last month, which was also its fourth state title in five years. They went on to top that by traveling to Florida and claiming the 2022 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship. Pirate Pride is on full display with this magnificent group of student-athletes.

Enjoy your long weekend and we will see you back at school Tuesday.

Pirates forever,

Dr. Wendy Eldredge
