Superintendent's Letters

August 13, 2021

Good evening, Pirates.

Our summer is coming to a close as we prepare to welcome back more than 5,000 students next Tuesday when school begins. The first day is August 17, and we expect to begin the year with record enrollment.

Much like last year, this new 2021-22 school year brings with it both excitement and question. Exciting times are here with new CTE programs such as cosmetology and JROTC. Our middle school construction is moving along at a rapid pace. And football season gets underway Thursday when our Pirates host the defending state finalist Lindale Eagles.

Questions are also a natural occurrence as bus routes, classroom supply lists and meet the teacher events take place. One that has persisted throughout the past 18 months is health and safety related to Covid. I assure you, CISD will remain committed to keeping our students, staff, families and community safe. The district released this week its 2021-22 Health & Safety Protocols to families through Skyward. You can also watch a protocols video from our new Coordinator of Nursing Janna Settles, as she and I visit briefly about those protocols.

This is a busy time for everyone throughout CISD—staff and families, alike. I know we are all excited for next Tuesday to arrive. So, rest up and have fun on this final weekend before we kickoff an amazing—and healthy—school year.

Pirates forever,

Dr. Wendy Eldredge, Superintendent
Crandall ISD
