Dr. Anjanette Murry Joins Wilson Elementary’s 3rd Grade Artists for a Colorful Celebration of Youth Art Month
Wilson Elementary’s 3rd-grade artists had a special guest in their classroom this week as Crandall ISD Superintendent Dr. Anjanette Murry rolled up her sleeves and joined Mrs. Tipton’s class for a hands-on art experience in celebration of Youth Art Month.
The young artists were diving into the world of Jackson Pollock, the renowned Abstract Expressionist known for his energetic drip paintings and action art. Students explored Pollock’s unique technique by dripping paint onto their designs and rolling marbles across the canvas, creating vibrant and unpredictable masterpieces.
Dr. Murry didn’t just observe—she jumped right in! With paint in hand and a willingness to get creative, she worked alongside students to craft her own abstract art piece. As students laughed and marveled at the colorful chaos, Dr. Murry proudly declared that her masterpiece was “definitely fridge-worthy.”
“This was such a fun way to celebrate Youth Art Month,” Dr. Murry said. “Our students are incredibly creative, and seeing their excitement while learning about Pollock’s techniques was inspiring. Mrs. Tipton does an amazing job fostering a love for art in her classroom.”
Youth Art Month highlights the importance of visual arts education, encouraging students to experiment, express themselves, and develop their artistic skills. Thanks to engaging lessons like this, Wilson Elementary students are embracing their creativity—and even inspiring their superintendent to do the same!
